Spring Wildflowers–Snow Drops

It’s time for a new series, and given that it is now spring here in the southeastern Pennsylvania, what better topic than spring wildflowers. While the early emerging flowers seemed to start on schedule those that follow seem to be a week to maybe two weeks late. Probably because it’s been pretty cool so far this spring.

Snow drops are one of the fist wildflowers to emerge. When you get in close it allows you to see the delicate beauty of  individual blossoms.

Cold and Wet John Deer Tractor

20110126_Petes_013A couple of years ago I stopped by Pete’s Produce Stand and made an image of the old tractor that he has setting out front. That morning there was a blue sky with big puffy clouds. So I shot from a low camera position.

Since then they have added an old wagon. So after one of our big snows this winter I stopped by to shoot it.  So why wait for snow? Because they sit near a stone parking lot and there is all kinds of distracting things around them that the snow covers up. Making for a much simpler composition.

In Lightroom I removed some bare fence posts along the top of the image. However, I decide to leave the row of corn stocks and weeks sticking up in the background.

So where is the John Deer Tractor? You’ll just have to read more.

Windows Live Writer TEST

20100811_RickettsGlen_241-2

I’ve just discovered Windows Live Writer. It’s an authoring tool to create content for blogs. Unlike the native Word Press editor you preview your posting with the blog’s theme applied. That means I see the text and images as they will appear when posted. The Word Press editor displays this as “plain text.” So to see it as it will appear when posted you have to preview it—what a pain.

This is a test post using that tool to compose a blog post. I now want to float the image. Lets see how we do that.

Let’s see how linking text looks. Link to previous post: Covered Bridges of Southern Chester County.

Twilight in West Chester

I was out at twilight on Tuesday evening and I thought I would share some images.

  1. Asplundh Concert Hall, West Chester University
  2. Papa John’s, West Chester University
  3. DK Dinner

WCU Concert Hall

Entrance of the Asplundh Concert Hall at West Chester University. I wanted to shoot this at twilight so I would get mixed lighting conditions–very cool evening light and very warm interior from the incandescent lights.
